***We are currently looking for volunteers who could help with our Food Pantry deliveries on Wednesday mornings. This job involves driving your own vehicle to the Greater Boston Food Bank, picking up the week's groceries and delivering them to the Pantry in Hyde Park. The hours are approximately 8AM-11AM.*** If interested, email [email protected].
Suggestions for families with small children There are so many wonderful Hyde Park families who would love to help out the food pantry and we are so lucky to have you. Since our pantry is quite small and busy we have listed a few of our favorite ways that young families can contribute to our community.
You can run your own food drive. Collect non-perishible items from friends, family, neighbors. To drop off at the pantry, email [email protected] and we can help coordinate a time to drop off. This is a great experience for your kids and really makes a difference in the lives of many in our community.
Monetary donations also go a long way at the pantry. Your children could host a lemonade stand and contribute the profits to the pantry. We are able to use that money to shop for groceries at the Greater Boston Food Bank where we are able to get much more bang for our buck!
Are you having a birthday party or BBQ? Having guests bring a pantry donation is another easy way to get involved and donations can be dropped off during open hours.
Many of the local Hyde Park PTOs run food drives throughout the year too so you can contact your school's PTO leaders and join in!
**Unfortunately, the Hyde Park Food Pantry is unable to host large groups to work within the pantry because of the size of our facilities. There are however, many wonderful local charities who do a great job of this. Two that we recommend are the Cradles to Crayons organization and the Greater Boston Food Bank.**
